IBM iX is expanding our studio network with the addition of IBM Studios, Washington, DC in Fall 2017! With 42 studio networks around the world, you will have the opportunity to lead and manage our brand new IBM studio opening at the WeWork Metropolitan Square building in DC focused on Public Service.

As the Studio Director, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering delightful user experiences and outcomes that matter to our US Public Service clients and their clients. You will engage actively with our government and education clients in the sale and delivery of iX services and you will demonstrate eminence and expertise in the market.

As the Studio Director, you will:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the studio including the management and development of the staff and facility
- Recruit and develop top talent across multiple disciplines to form a high-performing team that can take ideas from research to concept to fully crafted solutions
- Contribute and lead a culture of innovation, client centricity and teamwork
- Drive the direction and growth of the studio by developing and communicating our design strategy and collaborating with lead account partners to identify and create net new business opportunities
- Collaborate across IBM and with our clients to imagine, design and develop game-changing experiences
- Translate project outcomes into meaningful stories that resonate with our teams, stakeholders and clients
- Utilize market and competitive research, client feedback and our partnership with the global IBM Design and IBM iX teams to develop new offerings and capabilities
- Market the studio to internal IBM stakeholders and external clients and demonstrate personal eminence
- Be accountable for the team results, meet defined business objectives and financial targets

- At least 5 years experience building and leading a digital agency or digital consulting business
- At least 8 years experience across multiple human-centered design competencies to include research, editorial and content design, front-end development, industrial design, user experience design and visual design
- At least 8 years demonstrated proficiency in the sale and delivery of client engagements that span from digital strategy through omni-channel implementation
- At least 8 years recognition as a thought leader with examples of personal eminence in design, a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, and an understanding of emerging trends and technologies
- Expertise planning and facilitating design thinking workshops and leading digital, interactive and experiential product and program development
- Demonstrated track record of building and leading diverse teams
- At least 5 years experience consulting with federal, state and local government and/or education clients
- US Citizenship is required
